Agadir Buggy Biking– Off-Road Desert Safari in a 4-Wheel Buggy | From €45

Original price was: 70 €.Current price is: 45 €.

A quad bike puts you on your own. A buggy puts you and someone you like side by side, in an open 4-wheel off-road machine, tearing across the desert with absolutely nothing to do except drive, laugh, and try to get dustier than the person next to you. If the camel ride is Agadir’s most serene experience and the quad bike is its most intense, the Agadir buggy biking tour sits somewhere in the middle — exhilarating enough to generate genuine excitement, stable enough to bring the whole group along for it.

Our buggy tour covers the same spectacular Anti-Atlas desert terrain as our quad experience but in a 2-seat side-by-side vehicle with a steering wheel, roll cage, and seatbelts. The wider wheelbase makes it more forgiving on rough ground, the co-driver seat means couples and friends ride together, and the 5-hour duration gives you more total time in the landscape than any other off-road activity we offer. At the halfway point, the buggy stops and traditional Berber breakfast appears — mint tea, fresh-baked bread, amlou (Moroccan nut butter with argan oil), and honey. It’s a jarring but wonderful contrast.

The tour runs from the same starting point as our quad biking tour, so groups who want to mix can split between buggies and quads at the same session. Browse all our things to do in Agadir or book your buggy safari below.

🗺️ Itinerary — what happens during your buggy safari

Hotel pick-up
Your driver arrives at your hotel at the selected time. You’re transported approximately 20 minutes south of central Agadir toward the Anti-Atlas foothills, where the city falls away and the desert begins properly.

Arrival, briefing, and meet your buggy
On arrival at the starting point you meet your guide and are paired with your buggy. The vehicles are side-by-side 4-wheel off-road buggies with a steering wheel, open frame, roll cage, and seatbelt harness. Your guide walks you through all controls — accelerator, braking, steering on loose terrain, and how to handle the buggy if you get stuck (it happens, briefly, and is part of the experience). The briefing takes approximately 20 minutes and is genuinely thorough.

The drive — 5 hours through the Anti-Atlas landscape
Your guide leads the group out from the starting point. The route covers several distinct terrain types: open sandy desert with expanses of fine red dust; rocky dry riverbeds requiring careful navigation; argan and fig tree forests where the light filters through the canopy and the ground smells of earth and salt; banana plantations in the lower valley; and the outskirts of the Tamraght Berber village. The guide manages pace, ensures the group stays together, and stops at viewpoints along the route.

Stop at Tamraght Berber village
A brief but interesting stop at Tamraght — an ancient Berber community whose mud-brick architecture and agricultural lifestyle have remained largely unchanged for generations. Your guide provides context on the village’s history and the broader Berber culture of the Souss-Massa region.

Berber breakfast — the best part of any desert drive
At the halfway point, the buggies stop at a local Berber family’s property. The breakfast is laid out under shade: freshly made mint tea, amlou (the regional speciality of roasted almonds, argan oil, and honey — unique to southern Morocco), more pure honey for dipping, and rounds of freshly baked bread still warm from the oven. Nobody rushes this. It typically lasts 30–40 minutes and produces the most relaxed and talkative section of the entire day.

Return leg and drop-off at hotel
After breakfast, the group continues the return route through different terrain sections before arriving back at the starting point. Your driver returns you to your hotel — dusty, thoroughly satisfied, and probably already planning which photos to post first.

🎒 What to bring

  • A valid driving licence — required to drive the buggy; if you don’t hold a licence you can still participate as a passenger (two per buggy); specify when booking
  • Comfortable, close-fitting clothing you’re happy to get dusty — the desert terrain kicks up considerable grit at speed; avoid loose scarves, open sleeves, or anything that could catch on the buggy frame
  • Closed-toe shoes — essential. Trainers or hiking shoes only; open sandals are not permitted
  • A water bottle — desert air is dry; bring at least 1 litre per person regardless of how cool the morning feels
  • Sunscreen applied before pick-up — the desert sun is intense and the open buggy frame provides no shade while driving
  • Sunglasses worn under the goggles, or use them instead of goggles if the fit is more comfortable for you

📝 Notes

  • A valid driving licence is required to drive the buggy. Passengers without a licence can join as a co-driver (two per buggy) — indicate this preference when booking
  • Minimum age to drive: 18 years (with valid licence). Passengers: 13 years and above
  • Two people share one buggy — booking for one person and indicating at checkout that two will share is perfectly fine; one ticket covers both seats
  • The buggy tour and quad biking tour operate from the same location on the same days — groups can be split between the two vehicles at the same session; contact us when booking if you need a mixed group arrangement
  • Available in English, French, and Arabic
  • A private buggy tour can be arranged for couples, families, and groups — contact us for private pricing and booking
  • In the event of extreme weather, tours may be rescheduled — we will contact you in advance with alternatives

Buggy biking vs quad biking — which is right for you?

Both tours cover the same terrain, leave from the same location, and include the Berber breakfast. Here is the honest difference so you can choose what suits your group.

Choose buggy biking if: you’re travelling with a partner, friend, or family member and want to ride together in the same vehicle — buggies seat two side by side. You prefer a steering wheel to handlebars. You want a more stable, forgiving ride on rough terrain. You have 5 hours available for a longer experience. You hold a valid driving licence (or are happy to be a passenger).

Choose quad biking if: you want a solo riding experience with more physical engagement. You prefer the feeling of handling a vehicle with your body rather than a steering wheel. You have around 3–4 hours available. You don’t hold a driving licence (no licence required for quads).

Our quad biking tour costs €40 per person and runs for approximately 3.5–4 hours from pick-up to drop-off. Our buggy tour costs €45 per person and covers a longer route over 5 hours. Both are excellent — the choice genuinely depends on your group composition and how much time you have.

Frequently asked questions — Agadir buggy biking

Do I need a driving licence for the Agadir buggy tour?

Yes — a valid driving licence is required to drive the buggy. If you don’t hold a licence, you can still participate as a passenger seated alongside a licensed driver (two people per buggy). Please indicate your preference when booking — one ticket covers both seats in a shared buggy. Minimum age to drive is 18 years; minimum age as a passenger is 13 years.

How long does the Agadir buggy biking tour last?

The buggy driving itself covers approximately 5 hours including the Berber breakfast break. Total time from hotel pick-up to drop-off is around 6 to 6.5 hours. This is our longest off-road activity and covers significantly more terrain than the quad biking tour.

What is the difference between the buggy tour and the quad biking tour?

Buggies are 2-seat side-by-side off-road vehicles with a steering wheel, roll cage, and harness — ideal for couples or anyone who prefers a more stable, controlled ride. Quad bikes are single-rider ATVs with handlebars that require more physical body control. The buggy tour runs for 5 hours; the quad tour runs for approximately 3.5–4 hours. Both cover the same terrain and depart from the same location. A driving licence is required for buggies but not for quads.

Do I need experience to drive a buggy in Agadir?

No prior off-road experience is needed. A valid car driving licence is required but no off-road driving experience is necessary. Your guide gives a thorough briefing before departure covering all controls and how to handle the buggy on different terrains. The wider wheelbase and lower centre of gravity of the buggy make it more forgiving on loose and uneven surfaces than a quad bike.

Can two people share one buggy?

Yes — each buggy seats two people side by side. You can book one ticket and indicate at checkout that two people will share the vehicle. Partners, friends, and parent-child pairs all frequently share. The driver must hold a valid driving licence; the passenger has no licence requirement but must be at least 13 years old.

What is amlou and why is it in the Berber breakfast?

Amlou is a traditional Moroccan paste made from roasted almonds, argan oil, and honey — a regional speciality of the Souss-Massa area where Agadir is located. It has a thick, slightly grainy texture similar to nut butter and a rich flavour that is completely unique to this part of Morocco. It is eaten by dipping fresh bread into it. The argan oil used is the same cold-pressed oil sold internationally as a luxury beauty product — in the Souss Valley, it is simply food. Guests who try it for the first time consistently say it is one of the best things they ate in Morocco.

Can I book a private buggy tour in Agadir?

Yes — private buggy tours are available for couples, families, and groups who want an exclusive guide and personalised route. Contact us at Bookings@ecolodge-adventures.com with your group size, licence details, and preferred date to arrange a private session.
