Sixty-one kilometres north of Agadir, tucked inside the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, lies one of the most beautiful places in all of Morocco — and most tourists never find it alone. Paradise Valley is a palm-lined river gorge where crystal-clear freshwater pools, fed by mountain springs, sit between towering rock walls draped in fig trees and wild oleander. The locals call it Tagrat Ankarim in Tamazight. Everyone who visits calls it unforgettable.
This is consistently our most-booked and highest-rated experience. Our Paradise Valley day tour from Agadir picks you up from your hotel, drives you through a landscape that changes completely every 10 minutes — fishing villages, argan forests, Berber mountain communities — and delivers you to a place that feels genuinely removed from the world. You’ll hike down to the pools, swim in water that is cold and completely clear, eat a traditional Moroccan lunch on the valley floor, and return to Agadir in the late afternoon with the kind of photos that make people ask “where is that?”
If you only have time for one excursion from Agadir, make it this one. Browse all our day trips from Agadir or book the Paradise Valley tour directly below.

🗺️ Itinerary — what happens on the day
8:30 AM — Hotel pick-up
Your driver collects you from your hotel in Agadir or the cruise port. The group assembles and we head north toward the Atlas Mountains.
During the drive — scenic route through the mountains
The journey to Paradise Valley takes approximately one hour and is genuinely scenic. Your guide will point out the argan tree forests unique to this region of Morocco, the Berber villages clinging to the hillsides, and the dramatically changing landscape as you climb into the foothills. Keep an eye out for goats in the argan trees — a uniquely Moroccan sight.
Arrival at Paradise Valley — guided hike into the gorge
After parking, your guide leads you down a gentle 20-minute trail into the gorge. As the valley opens up around you — palm trees, towering rock walls, the sound of water — you’ll understand immediately why travellers have been making this journey for decades.
Free time at the natural pools
You’ll have several hours at the valley to swim in the crystal-clear pools, explore the gorge on foot, rest in the shade of the palm trees, or watch the light change on the rock faces above you. The water is cold and completely clean — bring your swimwear.
Lunch at the valley (optional)
A traditional Moroccan tagine and fresh bread can be arranged for groups who pre-book lunch. Eating at the valley — with the sound of the river and the mountains all around — is an experience in itself.
Return to Agadir — late afternoon
We make our way back to Agadir, arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon. The return drive is equally scenic in the golden afternoon light.
🎒 What to bring
- Swimwear and a towel — the pools are the main event
- Comfortable, sturdy shoes — the trail has some uneven rocky sections; sandals are not ideal
- Sunscreen and a hat — the walk and pool area are exposed to direct sun
- A light layer or jacket — the gorge can be cooler than Agadir, especially in spring and autumn
- Camera or fully charged phone — the valley is extraordinarily photogenic
- Cash for lunch or snacks if you haven’t pre-booked the included lunch
- Water bottle — stay hydrated on the walk

Why Paradise Valley is different from any other trip near Agadir
There are dozens of excursions you can take from Agadir. Most of them are enjoyable. But Paradise Valley produces a different kind of reaction — guests who have travelled all over the world come back from this day and say it was one of the most beautiful places they have ever been. There’s something about the combination of the mountain drive, the moment the gorge opens up in front of you, the sound and clarity of the water, and the complete contrast with the beach and city you left at breakfast that makes this experience genuinely memorable rather than merely pleasant.
We have been running this tour since 2011. We know the valley, we know the best pools, and we know when to give people space to simply sit in the silence. Our guides grew up in this region — they can tell you the names of the plants, the history of the Berber communities you pass through, and exactly where to jump from if you’re feeling brave.
Want to pair this with an afternoon activity back in Agadir? Try our sunset camel ride or a traditional hammam to round off the day perfectly. Looking for more day trips? Our Taroudant day trip and Essaouira day trip from Agadir are both excellent full-day excursions in different directions.
