Half Day Tour to Taroudant From Agadir
Visit Taroudant, secret hideaway to some of the jet set and royalty, known as the ‘Little Marrakech.’ Travel through the fertile Souss Valley to the former rebel stronghold. Its red ramparts surrounding exotic gardens and tiny souks give the visitor a taste of the pace of Moroccan city life.
|Drive through the fertile Souss Valley, passing banana and citrus fruit plantations, the High Atlas Mountains splendidly to your left. Along the way, stop to observe goats as they nimbly scamper in the upper branches of the famous Argan trees to forage for food. Your driver will stop for you to take the perfect holiday snapshot. Visit Soussi farm; see the orange and banana plantations; and have a local brunch of freshly squeezed orange juice, mint tea, and Moroccan pastries.On arrival in Taroudant, the visit commences by the red walled 11th-century ramparts and its five monumental gates (Babs).
Then heads into the hustle and bustle of this former Berber rebel stronghold—now renowned for the welcome it extends to its visitors and the friendliness of its shopkeepers. The maze of narrow streets leads to the busy square of Place Assarag, in the heart of the city. A guided tour of the souks with their traditional crafts on display will be provided, featuring silver jewelry, leather, engraved limestone, saffron, and many more spices, and of course Argan oil.
Free time will be allocated for you to wander around and explore the area on your own. A glass of refreshing mint tea will be offered before leaving Taroudant. This excursion is a great introduction to Morocco’s traditional past.
